As far as costumes go, dance dresses are the easiest option. Put a one -piece dress over a nude unitard and you are ready for the show – at least once your hair and stage make-up are done. For many lyrical dances, costuming with a dress makes perfect sense.
The flowing skirt of dance dresses can further the graceful lines of a lyrical dance piece. The color of the costume can be a vital aesthetic point of the dance. It’s a good idea to try on several dresses before deciding on the one to wear for a performance.
Solo dance pieces are a little easier to decide on costuming because only one body needs outfitting. When you have a large ensemble, a director may opt for matching costumes or coordinating costumes. To outfit a large ensemble, you may want to try two or three colors of the same or similar costumes.
